Opening ceremony

Post by floyd »

If you go to the web cam and search from 11.30 to 12.00 yesterday 18th you will see this great event. Was anybody from this forum there? It looked as if a few people stood around for 1/2 an hour and then wandered off. Was there a speach?

Can we have a report please. :?:

The ceremony on Thursday was for the opening of the tourist office. There was just a tent in the square offering drinks to the local big wigs. This coming Wednesday is the opening ceremony for the square, & the out road will be opened to traffic as well. We shall see what that brings.

Don't know what time anything is yet. If I hear anything I'll let you know.

Have you heard anything yet, Helen? We asked in the tourist office, but she said there was no ceremony on Wednesday, since the opening had been on the previous Thursday. :?

Apparently the out road is still supposed to be opening tomorrow (I have my doubts) but now there is confusion if there is going to be any ceremony!! Some people are saying yes & it will be something along the lines of last Wednesday & some say no. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens. Sorry I can't be more precise.

Not much sign of any ceremonial activity, yet. May pop down later and have a look.

Apparently the Carvoeiro junta has no knowledge of an opening ceremony. Maybe it's a surprise? :o

A rather strange and inconsequential event with all the local councillors and planners milling around looking quite officious and of course our local life guard. They all gathered around the flag pole to hoist up the 2 new flags after a few mins attaching the flags they all stood back to watch flags rise up the pole only to realise that 1 of the flags was yes you guessed it up side down .A small round of applause was given and the small group of dignitaries strode off to their waiting cars, what a truly riviting event.
