Sorry you did not detect a bit of humour in some of the responses.

The colour of the development does stand out like a sore thumb in a predominately white or cream painted area but if the camara is happy thats fine.
As for security in that area ( which is where we live for 4/5 months of the year ) we have never heard of it being an issue.
But as you say if it is somethng that concerns you then Monte Santo would tick your boxes.

As for prices we will agree to differ E300k plus for a 2bd apartment is over the odds as is E120 plus for dinner for 2 as has been reported on this forum.

One good thing about is the wildflower area ( or is just waste ground ) whichever it is it looks lovely in the spring :D

Ah ,thank you EMM, so it is the muddy coloured resort we visited once a while ago.
I must admit I like the gaily pale coloured and white washed buidings myself, they look so in keeping with the history and style, which so many of us liked about the area, rather than the muddy hemmed in style on that resort. However but each to ones own view on colour, style etc. Obviously many must like the place and think they have something special in order to pay for the properties ,I expect the vista, and amenities make up for it all to be pleasant to so many.

I was very surprised that planning permission was given for both Monte Santo and Hibiscus Gardens, I find them both very unattractive, and overpriced for the area, but if the owners who have bought there are happy with their decision, that's fine.

I would have preferred something more aesthetically pleasing, but as usual, there was no consultation with nearby residents

Kteee, I am uncertain as to where they are exactly. Do you know where Roy lives? If so, after going up the hill beside the ice cream parlour, would you pass it on the left hand side at some time? I vaguely remember some dun coloured apartments set back from the road.

If you go up the hill past the Sullys and the ice cream shop, past Monte Carvoeiro, then past Quinta do Paraiso on the left, the next development on the left is Hibiscus Gardens, and the back of Monte Santo is next on the left

For the front entrance of Monte Santo, carry on past Vila Nova on the left, on to the end of the road, turn left, and follow the road to the mini roundabout with the Santa Maria statue - the gatehouse for Monte Santo is on the left

NOT ME GUV.....

I was sitting in the back, our erstwhile pilot was just flying, it was my beloved wife Julia, a well known right wing radical, who was the mission commander in the right hand seat.

I'll just settle on it being called "The Blot".
Ugly, bland and typically fooballer-esque. (I like to imagine Mock Tudor mansion in Alderley Edge).

You know what...a bit of initiative, a bit of balls (not golf alas) and a study of the true CVO may have produced a half decent result. It's like someone has developed the site from far, far away.

Give me the windswept cliffs, leaves in the pool, drinks on the terrace with dogs barking in the distance - with not a neighbour within whispering distance, free to get up in a morning looking like a bag of spanners and drifting through the day at peace with myself.

I know what my soul prefers.

As a matter of fact - do I remember a Nivea branded beach ball on CVO beach cliff side many moons ago ? I was only maybe 12 and I'm sure the cliffs fell in the early 80's

I found these holiday villas at Monte Santo Resort (http://www.montesantoalgarve.com). It looks very nice on the web site but has anyone been there? Any feedback most welcome. Dave
Oh and didn't mean to be mean to you Dave. My feeling is that CVO has so much more to offer. I suppose that would mean what you would want from your holiday as a family unit or as a couple, or as a group of friends or as an individual. For me the individuality of a villa with a private pool fills all my criteria and yet I know that other's would prefer to have humans right on their doorstep within sniffing distance. I'm 100% sure that what you'll find at Monte Santo is cleanliness, modernist and staff of the upmost starched uniform and insect replellant at the ready....but there are better and less "stiff" options with divine views of the real CVO. Not some manicured lawn and manufactured waterfall.

Goodness knows...I'm feeling a moaning 39. Better get myself down the beauty salon for my Friday night in Alderley Edge :D

One good thing about Monte Santo is that they seem to have spent a fortune on landscaping, and I imagine this may include hedge barriers to the surrounding roads. The effect of this in a couple of years time will be to give owners/residents of Monte Santo their comfort zone with pristine buildings, manicured lawns and privacy in their special enclave with their own "taste". With a little bit of luck, Kteee won't even be able to see it :?

Interestingly I was sitting tonight on the balcony of Xico Se restaurant (lovely setting, very average food from an unimaginative menu - but that's a different topic) and gazing at the blocks of flats over the restaurants (Jota Lita/ A Gale etc.).

Now thats an UGLY view!

They are neither modern nor traditional, built very poorly, badly maintained and dominate the centre of CVO.

Strange that nobody else has commented on this blight - yet!.

Now there's an idea.....you could form a branch of Cheshire WAGs in Carvoeiro.....and have girly evenings sipping chardonay at Monte Santo.
