Right Flight?

God haven,t we all gotten soft ,does anybody remember the "magic bus"...dublin to athens in four days,stop for 15mins every eight hours,no on board toilets,greek drivers and all for 35quid return.

Hello

I introduced myself to this forum a while back and then disappered! Actually it was to move house and have a baby, but now I've come back to find out what's happening out there!

You probably have all the replies you need to this one, but I thought I'd reply too! We used to live in S Lincs, not far South of Boston and flew to Faro from EMids on Easyjet a few times. The journey to the airport was fine as were the flights.

We're living in Norfolk now and so will be flying from Luton this time (end of April), but still with Easyjet! Its hardly a long flight so I don't think it matters too much. I think its more important when you go long haul. Especially making sure that the flight serves free alcohol and has some form of entertainment as it can get quite boring then!

Oh I do miss alcohol! Maybe I'll allow myself a glass when I get back out to the sunny Algarve.

It is a two and a half hour flight! I could understand the concern if you were travelling to the other side of the Atlantic, but for heaven's sake! Sounds a little pretentious to me.

Sorry, all I meant was I had missed having the odd drink or two since I have just spent 9 months being pregnant.

As for the flights, on a long haul its nice to have alcohol available as its so boring!

I personally don't think it matter what you get when you're flight is a short one i.e UK to Algarve.

Debs, first of all, congrats on the new baby

Be warned that free drinks on long haul flights is pretty much a thing of the past. Most (all?) airlines across the Atlantic now charge £3 or $5 for any alcoholic drinks to those who turn right on entry to the plane.

Is this cost cutting or a drive to minimise air rage ?

Not on Virgin, they came round and round offering us drinks and when it went quiet, you could just stroll up to the galley and help yourself - bliss, of course I am spending 10 hours or so on a plane to Goa this week but it is First Choice, so no doubt I will have to pay for a glass of water!!!!!!

I always worry too much that things I say online are going to be read wrongly or taken the wrong way (it has happened).

The last time I went long haul was about 5 years ago on BA to bermuda and there were plenty of free drinks available (Still the flight cost enough). I have no idea whether that is still the case though.
I can't imagine First Choice giving much away but I'm sure the holiday will be lovely.

Maddi, you're right about Virgin. Most of my recent flights have been on US based airlines, and we all know that what the US do today, the rest of the world will copy tomorrow

One thing that converted me, particularly to American Airlines is their extra legroom. The seat pitch on AA is nearly 4 inches more than Virgin, and as you ladies keep pointing out, that extra few inches does matter

Are you one of the leggy ones? Sounds like it!
Actually..I have quite long legs...they take up 29 inches of my height (just under 5-5)....but how long is long?
So its not just you guys who need/like..to stretch out a bit....
Gawd..Ive just thought..am I going to be all restricted in that easy jet seat
