Cruise ships into Portimao
Does anyone know the website for Portimao harbour or where a list of the cruise ships arriving in Portimao can be found. Looked everywhere for this and no joy so far. Found the marina website but didn't appear to cover this. Also found the list for Lisbon, it's amazing how many pop in there for a visit.

I think this is the site for the harbour: http://www.imarpor.pt/Quem%20somos/contactos.htm

Re: Cruise ships into Portimao
Coincidentally , (because I'm sad), I was looking through all the cruise line itineraries the other day, and not one of the major lines has scheduled Portimao as a call this season, which is a shame because I love those big ships.
That's why I love where we stay in Funchal, Maderia. Our apartment overlooks the harbour where on most days 2 cruise liners tie up.
My wife swears that we only bought the place so that anorak Brucie could ship-spot!!
The sad thing is that she is dead right!!!

Re: Cruise ships into Portimao
there is a conference this Wednesday in Portimao dealing with nautical tourism, there is a free lunch and the afternoon session deals with cruise liners.
As is so typical here , the Algarve is light years behind spain in marketing itself for this growth industry..for example Portimao does not even have a web site for its port..a point I will make when I attend this week.

Try http://www.vacationstogo.com they have a heading of cruise ports on their site. If you select Portimao the will show you all the ships with Portimao in their itinery.
You will have to look up each cruise deal to find the exact date.

I just looked...the best I could find was an invite to e-mail the site for relevant cruise deals that call in Portimao....no list or timetable.Audrey wrote:Try http://www.vacationstogo.com they have a heading of cruise ports on their site. Thanks Martin for the input on this, it's certainly something they should be marketing especially as the approach to the harbour has been dredged to allow the big liners in as against pull up outside and use tenders. See if they have a list if you can. Thanks
Re: Cruise ships into Portimao
I think the Oriana is due off Portimao today (Thursday 4th)
Re: Cruise ships into Portimao
I saw the Oriana there a couple of years ago - anchored just outside the harbour. We walked to the end of the breakwater from the Ferragudo side and had a good view of the lighters shuttling tourists into Portimao and also up the river to Silves - a great site.
