Used Car advertisments

Post by shanagarry »

Can somebody point me in the direction of a publication (in English - if possible) that advertises used cars for sale on The Algarve please?

I know there are all those used car lots between Lagoa and Albufeira - but they all look very 'Arthur Dalyish' to me!

All suggestions will be most welcome.

It's a weekly paper for the algarve, a bit like Exchange and Mart or Daltons, it carries ads for everything, furniture, property, cars etc etc

Thank you again - is it on sale at newsagents or is it a 'freebie'?

Hi Felix
Thank you for your feedback - I have followed ads in The Resident for many months, especially those on the back where they have two cars featured and am astonished at the money being asked for them. The prices for the 3 year old cars featured makes them a lot more expensive than brand new cars here - by some way. The importation route is still my preferred method (despite all the advice to the contrary) but a change to my work schedule is going to delay my permanent move to Carvoeiro by about a year, nevertheless, I will prolong some of my stays in Cvo and will bring my car from here for the longer stays (6-12 weeks). Exorbitant car rental prices have forced my hand there and we like the scenery in the North of Portugal anyway.

I have a shortlist of 'candidates' for export with some very good prices - but I feel the picture will look very different in 12 months time when the supply of new cars dries up. There is wide speculation here in the UK that values for 'young' used car prices will soar towards the end of the year as the stockpiles of new cars diminish. Despite the doom and gloom you read about in the press, all of the popular car manufacturer's dealerships are reporting a brisk trade in this part of the UK. As an example our local BMW dealer has 11 used cars on the forecourt - whereas previously there would have been 20-30.

As promised I will journal my car buying and importation activity once I start it in earnest. At present I am still at the research stage, hence the request for info on advertisements.

These sites are obviously in Portuguese but are easy to navigate and you can search by region

We too have been looking into this and have been concerned at adds we have seen for LHD cars still on UK plates being advertised.

Apart from passing on the costs of matriculation to the new owner does the potential criminal liability for have an " over stayed " car also pass to the new owner.

We are staying well clear of any of these vehicles and should adds even be accepted for them ??
