registration of utilites?

I have been tol d that it is required by law to register all water based utilities (ie bore hole , fossa, swimming pool , cisterna ,) before the end of the month , otherwise MEGA fines will be imposed . Any info on this subject ??

This is not really accurate. It has always been the case that boreholes (furos) and pools have had to be "registered" with the appropriate authority. Also of course fossas and cisternas would have been shown on the original plans when the property wa built. Your query may be because industrial/commercial installations, as opposed to private, now have to make a separate registration in respect of water and sewage use.

According to an article in the Portugal News dated25th April 2009, There is a Decree-Law number 226A/2007 that stipulates that water usage equipment must be licenced by May 31st 2009. This includes bore holes and cesspools.

Has anyone researched this? There is a minimum fine of 25,000 euros!

My solicitor is looking into this as she says the link on the arh website posted in another topic relates to businesses, agricultural establishments and beaches ! (from memory).

I think you will probably find that although you may have all the necessary licences you now need to re-register all again. Our solicitor is doing this at the moment for us. we are hoping that the water sample that we needed for our borehole licence just before christmas will still be valid and that we don't need to get it done once again.
