new ski and golf resort for monchique

Interesting to see that the new 18 hole golf course just approved for the new “Monchique Mountains Golf and Ski Resort” will have as so named the added bonus of a ski slope for guests staying at the new 200 rooms 5 star Hotel Development. The ski slope will have a 1500 metre ski run and be enclosed in a huge A frame building to reduce evaporation during the hot summer months.

The artificial snow will be manufactured by using the very soft Monchique water which has been tested and produces excellent compacted snow, the freezing of the water will be done by the construction of 8 wind turbines so the development will be self sufficient from an energy standpoint. When not in use the wind turbines towers will be used for a ski chair lift so skiers will be saved a long return journey to the ski runs summit

The press release explains that it will be possible to ski, play golf and surf all in one day when construction finishes in 2012..sounds exciting!!
