There is a small vineyard up the road from us, we first came across their wine in Rui's in Silves, we decided to treat ourselves to a lobster lunch the waiter recommended it to us & we liked it very much. The vineyard is Barranco Longo & as yet their wine is only available in restaurants.

Ermmm, can I help it if folk keep putting wee glasses of Port in front of me? It wouldn't be good manners for me to refuse it now would it?

Just remembering my last night at Colombos (Sept 2007) and when it went quiet, I sat outside with owners Geninia & Marcus & waiter Pedro, plus a couple from Bow(the lady was a scream)...what a merry night we had and somehow as I drained one glass, another appeared in front of me....
good job the couple from Bow took me home in a taxi

We really like a dry white called Cartuxa which we have had at Rei das Praia & Sao Roque. Unfortunately, we cannot find it in the shops!

Ask Louis at Rei da Praia about his wine delivery service - you just give him a call and a few hours later someone turns up with whatever you selected at prices that beat the supermarkets.

One of the frustrating things about eating out is that if you find a wine that you like other than the popular brands its very difficult to find it in a shop.

Portugal has a large but very diverse wine industry, there are only few large producers but many many small and medium.
Often the entire production of a winery will be sold before the harvest is gathered if they have a good reputation.
We came across a delicious red Quinta da paca afew years ago saw it once in Continente, but not again.

Its a good idea to change from the planalto, mateus, borba and experiment, it won,t cost much more if at all.

Is there also a special wine in Carvoeiro, which is not dry (and it should be a red one )....i watched the whole internet and all i found are red wines, which are dry
