Walk : Wednesday 25 March 2009 at 1000
Hi all
This will be "Hilltops & Orange Groves" from Julie Statham's book page 48.
It should take about 2.5 hours , but there is a nice cafe at the start/finish. Lovely views.
There are a couple of fairly steep climbs & whilst the paths are generally good , there is a downhill one that has loose scree & it is advisable to wear boots & have a stick. Good trainers should suffice.
As always , bring some water.
To perhaps state the obvious , the walk is at your own risk.
The start point is on the EN124 between Silves & Sao Bartolomeu de Messines. However, I will add a fuller description of precisely where it is in a day or two , once we have checked the route ( it's some time since we last walked it & some of the signage didn't agree with the book then!).
Watch this space , put it in your diaries & tell your friends. If you hope to be able to make it , please indicate in a reply.
We won't be able to organise a further one till 7 May , so hopefully one of you readers will step forward?

I do wish I was still in the Algarve and able to go on these walks when reading about today's walk and the one for next week. Roll on the next visit

Directions on how to get to start point:
From Silves on the N124 travel towards Messines. After 12kms there is signpost to the left saying " Torres " & " Corres". Drive about 1 km & park at a T junction at bottom of hill......or there are some parking spaces on the hill on the left , but it is quite steep.
Hope to meet you there for a 1000 start.

A beautiful walk through the orange groves , up over some hills & by some menhirs & old burial grounds. About 2 hours 35 minutes , but only 9 of us & all friends/friends of friends. No CVO Ramblers from the forum.....where were you Helen?
