I'm in Luz today and it is gorgeous
Everywhere is much quieter than usual. Even the Bull was quiet for the Liverpool thrashing of Man U.
Some estate agents already closed down and hotels worried about this years bookings.
Pretty much par for the course for most Euro Med holiday spots I assume.
But with weather like this - not a cloud and about 25 degrees - I think people will stretch to it ( the eternal optimist)

Stop all this doom and gloom stuff - it's no better or different here in the UK. Pensions and savings income are victims of the same problem. There's nothing any of us can do about it other than learn the lesson - when the better times return - think long and hard about over indulgence.

For now - get your head down and deal with it - stop whingeing.

@shanagarry + I hope that you didn't consider my response to the BBC article as a whinge. The opposite is the case, I'm very upbeat about the future in the Algarve. Maybe it's because I planned for bad times as well as good times, but I do believe that like investing in the stock market, investing in a foreign country is a long term strategy. Day traders, be they in shares, bonds, commodities, or Algarve property, must accept the risk.

Many years ago the pattern of expats was defined - those going to something, and those running from something. One group is typically prepared for fluctuations. One isn't. I know to which group I belong.
