Car Hire
Re: Car Hire
Having tried most of the major companies ( National, Europcar etc) through holidayautos , must say that Travelrent are always very relaiable & reasonable , don't charge extra for an extra driver & don't minutely examine the car for nicks. Minimal waiting & hassle on collection & return.

Re: Car Hire
My ex has just come back from the apartment. At my recommendation (thought he would be an excellent guinea pig) ue used the economycarrental.com site. He said they were excellent - good car, excellent prices and very easy pick up and drop off. He will now use them for all his car rental requirements in the Algarve.
The original post started as he had had a problem with a windscreen claim by Sixt on him. He was paid in full by carinsurance4hire (or whatever the name is) so was very pleased with their service, and, due to complaining long and loud at Sixt, was given 50% back from them (which he is now giving back to carinsurance4hire).
So - Sixt has lost at least two regular users, and looks pretty poor
Carimnsurance4hire looks good if you need to take out fully comp insurance and make a claim
Economycarrental looks a good bet for car hire in the Algarve.
many thanks for everyone's input on this thread - would not have considered using this company prior to the recommendations on here.

Re: Car Hire
I would just like to say that the money owed to my daughter has now been paid in full by SEVIS (altho' it did take the threat from one of our employees in Lisbon for the 'heavies' to move in !!! )
YOR car hire paid back her original car hire some weeks ago now, which we are very grateful for.
We have just come back from a 5 day break and used TravelRent for the car on recommendation of Bruce W, we found them very good, nice car, no problems at all. ( on a personal note tho' I felt really guilty at not going to our usual rep from YOR who was there, but we did shake hands and say hi to him)

Re: Car Hire
Just noticed Economy car hire are now using amongst others, SEVIS. I'm trying out drive 4 fun on Monday via ECH
Re: Car Hire
Forrtunately you know who you are using before you get there - so if Sevis comes up as my allocated car rental company, I am likely to ask them to find another.

Re: Car Hire
FMM. You do get a choice with ECH before you book
Re: Car Hire
I've just booked a car for next week and I was going to try ECH but have decided to return to Auto Jardim as we had no problems with them previously

Re: Car Hire
Does Travelrent have an office within the terminal building? Do they check the car when you return it or do you leave it in the car park with the keys in the sun visa and finally do you have to leave a blank credit card docket with them.

Re: Car Hire
Yes they do have a desk in the terminal along with others. Yes you do need a credit card when taking the car for petrol shortage, tyre damage and windscreen damage, and no you don't leave the car with the keys in the visor, they are in attendance where you pick up and drop the car
