I haven't been out in the last year as am waiting for hip operation...so I envy you

But Ill be out there as soon as I can walk better. We are thinkng of buying a mobile home near Tavira, so we can escape the cold winters here in the future,

thanks ellie found all the of it helpfull sorry to hear about your hip how on earth do you manage the hills in cvo if you have a bad hip. now heres a question why tivira? no one has mentioned here. thanks for all your well wishes to the family and mum you sound like a lovely lady and its a pity you cant get over to the heat just now with your hip as the heat always helps mum with her pain she is like a different women when were on holiday claims the heat helps, last time she even stop her medicine for the week we were there.

Ive not been out to Carvoeiro since Sept 2007 and my condition has got lot worse since then..
I stay on the 'flat'bit of Monte Dourado on the out road, which makes it easier for me to get to shops/restaurants/beach etc. On my last visit I bought a strong walking stick from the Chinese shop (just under 3 euros)....and I did manage a walk up to Algar Seco then back towards the church and down into town.
I can understand your Mum's feeling better out there. I spent quite a bit of time on CVO's beach, soaking up the sun and I felt so much better for it..even when I got home I felt so well

About Tavira...a friend on here gave me the link to the mobile home site near there and have to say that it looks lovely. Don't know much about the town itself..think we went there when we lived out there but I can't remember much about it.
But I will always think of Lagoa as my second home..made so many nice friends there. If we could afford it Id like to buy apartment there..one with a roof terrace like we had before so I could have a little garden, one made up of pots

Anyway me dear, bet you can't wait till your hols come and you can have an 'explore'?
Can only go by the time we lived out there and Id say, go inland a bit..stop off at little cafes by the way side and see, meet the real Portugal and it's people..
Ive met so many interesting characters that way over the years and they've certainly given me something to write about

I started going into Lagoa when I was trying to get a licence for the swimming pool as the architects were based there. I really enjoyed the leisurely pace of things and always stopped for a coffee in the park. I was usually the only English person about as it was out of season and got a chance to practice speaking some portuguese.

Then I had the kitchen done by Cozequipa who are based in Lagoa so I again I used to stop off for a coffee and something to eat. I found a place to top my phone up which I preferred to using the phone shops in Algarve Shopping. I like the atmosphere in Lagoa and have enjoyed wandering around.

hi ellie ive read all the stuff you have written and enjoyed it all sounds like an adventure if kids were not so happy here, something we would love to try hubby is a joiner and we have talked about it but i think kids are to old now to move them plus the way the things are with the building trade right now, we have a company right now building kit houses but things are not good. they can only get better. by the way was any of your stuff published as a book?

Publisher is out of books..but artist Judith(she does book cover & drawings) I believe has 2 left in her shop, in my local town of Spilsby.

Apart from that all have been sold here in UK.It was on Amazon but sold out now.

When I was out Sept 2007, the bookshop in Carvoeiro 'Algarve Book Cellar' had 8 left..its on the lefthand side as you enter Carvoeiro.

I did send some out to 'Griffins' bookshop in Almancil(they sold out so I sent some more) and there may be some there,
