Car hire from airport? do we get the best deals on the net?

When we use drive4fun or economy car hire we are covered fully comprehensive so we do not need any other insurance.

I find autoalgarve.com is one of the cheapest - they do a good rate for Full ins including excess waiver - just paid €85 for 1 week in Jan. Only have small and medium cars generally.

paid £83. for 11 days in Jan, with XOTI Cars on line via carrentals.co.u.k on the web. the cheapest i found this year.

What size car? Is that for full cover without excess? I paid 168 euros equal to £155 at that time for 14 days hire group B (4 door car) in January with Airauto. Full cover.
Pickup and deliver to airport car park.

it was for 4 door compact citroen, with A/C and DVD new car, fully insured, not including excesss, but i have a yearly excesss policy so there was no need.it was a new caqr and i did not have to nwait for agent to check off the car on returnm just left the keys in car aqnd parked in P4 at the airport, very straight forward, will definitley use them again. it was via carrentals.co.ukl website on the net.

I use to use YOR car rentals but the last car they gave me had done nearly 70,000 kms and smelt like a chinese brothel far too many cigars.
So now I use economycarrentals and have had no problems dont know if they are the cheapest but Im happy with them. I have to add YOR did swap the car but having been with them many times expected better than that and the guy who swapped it rated 9 out of 10 for not being the happiest of souls..

Hiya, can I ask, these companies do they hire cars just with third party insurance as a norm? I have looked on a few sites now and it seems all the quotes are with 3rd party insurance. I would prefer fully comp to be honest, especially while driving in Portugal.
Anyone know the best companies for this??

Yes - me too. And I want to be able to drop the car back at the airport, not on the road outside the airport. I do not want to have to get a lift to departures.

Someone recommnended economycarrentals.com - could you please tell me where you drop the car back and pick up from.

According to the website
"Car Rental with full insurance and no excess"

However, it is not a standard no excess charge - you have to sort it out with them afterwards. Assuming that no one has had a problem in the past, then that is OK for me.

Airauto are fully comp, no excess, apart from wheels and tyres which are excluded, which is fair enough. Pick up at airport and leave in car park 4 with keys in at end.

Oh well - I have booked economycarrentals for 4 days in April for £70. Fully insured etc. I will see what they are like and then decide what to do for July, August and October. I shall report back!

If you look on the page where you hire the car it actually says third party insurance - https://www.economycarrentals.com/CarSelection.aspx

It says full insurance on the home page so it is confusing.

Yes - I think it means that the "local" car hire company automatically gives you 3rd party, but that the rental company that we are booking with automatically includes full comprehensive cover in its costs.

This is, however, something that is sorted out after you have paid the excess yourself - which may be something that you would rather avoid given your recent experiences

As sanreen said in an earlier post, if you book through Economy Car Hire, which is UK based, you will be offered a choice of operators all of whom include full insurance in the hire price. This means there is no argument about scratches, etc, on return. The cars are parked in P4, so there is no need for a transfer bus.
