We travelled with Monarch at Christmas and were quite early in boarding the plane. We had hand luggage only and found that the area over the seats was already full both on the inward and outward journey. We did manage to use the next group of lockers but our luggage was not checked for either weight or size. In fact Monarch do not have on line check in at Faro and it is necessary to queue to obtain our boarding cards and they were not interested in the size or weight of the luggage.

Out here in Holland I normally book my flights with Transavia which is one of the supposed cheap airlines. I now find it cheaper to book with KLM which flies to Lisbon but the savings pay for the car hire and no hidden extras. I think it may be cheaper to look elsewhere sometimes and after ploughing through the Ryan Air site well say no more......

Ryan Air will be flying to Seville from July.
This won,t appeal to everyone but if the prices are low enough it could be worth a look.
Flybe from Southampton or Exeter go to Faro - April onwards.

That's the problem with smaller airports - stuck with their airlines. I use Southampton because it's only 2 miles from the house - cheaper to fly from Gatwick, but when there's only 2 of us, the parking and petrol soak up the savings on the air tickets.
