Sharen and I had our first ever meal at Maximes last Friday (2 Jan) with friends and I have to report it was a fantastic.

If you haven't been before, go. It is a bit on the pricey side - but well worth it. The service was excellent, the food superb and the ambiance relaxing.

Not only was the food great but the company we ate with was entertaining and the conversation didn't drag for a second. We'll certainly return next Christmas, and if our friends care to join us again we'd be more than happy to dine with them once more.

We visited Maximes on Saturday last just before they closed for their holidays. Great value as usual in relaxing atmosphere.

Well what can I say, after visiting CVO for 10 years now and reading on the forum how wonderful Maximes is, we thought we would give it a try a couple of years ago and was very disappointed. It was over the christmas period although not christmas day. The staff seemed too busy looking after what appeared to be their friends and ignored us for long periods. We spent most of the times waiting for our meal, drink, plates to be taken away or or bill. We felt that we were not welcomed there at all. As for the meal, after telling my husband about all the comments I had read here, we were really looking forward to it, again, all I can say is, it was really quite ordinary ( and that's a compliment). To top it all off the electric kept going, we really wish that we hadn't bothered.
I know that a lot of you out there like this restaurant, however, we don't.

It is situated near to #34 on this map. The cost varies depending upon what you have, but it is a bit more expensive than many restaurants, but worth every penny.

Of course - it is can't possibly compare with Colombos! (I think we need to agree each to their own) - I eat perhaps 10 times a year in Maximes and think it cannot be faulted. I ate twice in Colombos and did not enjoy anything about it. However, at least I gave it a second chance ...

Assuming the adults have two courses plus wine and a few drinks,
for 5 you could spend up to 150 euros.( incl tip )
