CAR INSURANCE

Post by katie b »

Hi everyone, can I ask for your help and advice?
We are relocating to the Algarve in April this year and are bringing our car with us, which we intend remetriculating within a few months of our arrival.
Our UK insurance expires at the end of April, does anyone have any info regarding a Portuguese or UK company who would insure at a competitive price? We will be taking up permanent residence in Portugal and will not have a UK address.
Thanks everyone for your help.

At risk of hi-jacking your question, perhaps someone in the know could comment while replying to the original question, does anyone know if there is the equivalent of SORN in Portugal. I have an old car which is not used anymore. It's tax, IPO and insurance expired a couple of years ago.

I always hire when visiting. It is registered in my name with Portuguese plates. Should I delclare it as "off the road" to avoid penalties as would be the case in the UK. Thanks.
