Cormac McNallen
Cormac McNallen
I come temporarily out of my retirement to talk about somebody who probably only one or two people will know, and it's perhaps not fitting that I should talk about him, for my upbringing did not encourage me to understand, or appreciate, a 'foreign' sport in my own country.
Cormac was 24 years old and a member of the Tyrone team that won the 2003 All Ireland Gaelic Football final. He won every award that was open to him. A battler on the pitch and a gentleman off it
He was 24 years old and today he died suddenly .
I salute him.
Learn every day as if you will live for ever, and live every day as if you will die tomorrow

Amen to Tricky's words
What an absolute tragedy.
Ive just read about this on the Irish news online. How terrible to lose a young man of such talent and inspiration to his country. He was described as a quiet spoken teacher,so i would imagine, a modest man as well as true sportsman.
God rest him and give solace to his family

What a very sad day for Ireland and the sporting world in general.
It also shows how ignorant we can be regarding top sportsmen of even our closest neighbours.I for one, didn't know of this talented young man.
Could you imagine(God forbid!) if it was Beckham or Johnny Wilkinson?England would be plunged into mourning.
My commiserations to his country of Ireland and sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
