Clothes Drying

Hi - HELP! As its our first winter here, (and I know its not as cold as in the UK), it's just for the few weeks that we are without clothes drying weather (its bedding and towels that are a real pain!) - which is the best and most cost effective route to go down
1. Use a laundry for the lot
2. Buy a tumble dryer and if this option
a) buy one here (they seem v expensive) or get one shipped out from UK
b) are they expensive to run here
We have had sheets, towels etc hanging around on Clothes Maidens galore, but it doesnt half cause condensation.

We have a condensing tumble dryer, although I don't like them, they are very useful in the winter.

I don't use it for clothes, but for sheets and towels it is a necessary evil at this time of year!

We bought ours here, can't remember how much (it was a few years ago) but I don't think it was expensive

We bought out a rotary clothes line in a golf bag last summer, its proved
invaluable in getting clothes dryed when ever there has been a break in the weather.
Our Portuguese neighb ours have clothes lines on their roof terraces, not pretty but must work.

We use a tumble dryer which we bought out here from Radio Popular, it's a basic model, not huge large enough to take bedding but small enough to sit on top of the work surface in the utility. It wasn't overly expensive but things are going so cheap in the UK at the moment that it may be less expensive to buy on line & have Direct Transport bring it over. Either way it's worth it, our house looks like Wan Fu's laundrette at the best of times in the winter with all the clothes drying on concertina type dryers in the spare room without all the bedding & towels too.

Yes, I don't know how we've managed with so little of pickwick's scintillating input & devastating wit, not to mention charm & good will. I look forward to some more fine & intelligent examples of it.

I bought a condenser dryer from Worten's last October - very effective but not cheap at 300 euros.

I saw a device advertised in a newspaper the other day, it was in the form of an inflatable bag with a clothes horse in it which was powered by a 800 watt fan (quite powerful). I would have thought it would be quite noisy though...... This is not a joke!

Bit of topic...We take our clothes and sheets to the Laundry on the in Road and last time they lost my Husbands new Shirt and T shirt, it was on the list and they just wrote over so not only have they lost but I ALSO PAID..... The lady now cannot speak English and my Port is rubbish...so please help can some one tell me how I ca explain that not only has she lost shirt and t shirt but I have had to pay for the privalige and Husband is now mad at me.....Thanks this is not a joke as I am back in 3 weeks and want to go in with the hideous Scarf shawl that wre got in place for the really nice shirt and t shirt
