Car hire from airport? do we get the best deals on the net?

Hi all,

I am sure this must have been debated many times but who is the best and cheapest of the car hire companies as there seem to be so many booths and billboards on arrival and would like to hear views as to the best.

try carrentals. online. thay are the cheapest car finder site in the U.K. at present for january it is about £ 8. for 1 day. 10 days in january when i am coming to algarve is £82. Yes Bondi thats cheaper than the Cvo site car hire, although they're not too happy if you're over 65, so there is a surcharge, what it is I don't know.

I know, I smashed my Merc an S500 up two years ago, I had to be cut out, they seemsd to take great delight in trashing it, I fell asleep at the wheel at forty miles an hour, demolished a standard lamp, part of a tree and a wall, it was outside a pub and when they heard it was me they all came out to look and take photo's. I was badly bruised internally but physcologically unharmed, I'm a tough old bird believe you me, apart from being charged £1,500 for the lamp standard and losing the car

When we go back to the UK we always use www.travelsupermarket.com as they always come up with the best price. Might be worth a try for here in Portugal as well.

Silly question but how did you know you were doing 40mph if you were asleep at the time ? By the way out here it would cost about 3000 euros for a lamp post so stick to driving around the Wirral.

we always use www.autoeurope.com and for 16 days at christmas it is only costing £156, but we do have a seperate annual cover to replace the cdw costs. www.insurance4carhire.co.uk

We are happy with the company we use, always get a discoubt on their normal rate ( due to no of times we have used them ).

However when we looked into "annual CDW insurance " we have been told by a number of people and companies that the fly in the ointment is that the car hire company will expect payment up front for any damage when the car is returned.
The claim on the insurance company is the responsibility of the driver.

Yup, thats how 3rd party annual CDW waiver insurance works.
