...whats the weather like in CVO? It looks nice on the cam?

We have just come back from 5 glorious days out there, it was 28 in the shade and 31 in full sun by our pool most days. Has been hot and sunny during the day (strappy top and shorts weather) but the wind does come up in the afternoon which is cooling, the evenings are really nice but when the sun has gone down the temperature drops dramatically! will need a jacket or warm top if you are going out.

Hi, we came back last Friday and out of the 4 weeks we were there had 1 day with intermittent heavy showers.
The rest of the time great weather during the day, but it did go cooler at night.
Well worth being there though.

Cloudless skies for at least the last two weeks, and looks set to be the same for next week. Highs of about 21-22C, but it feels much warmer in the sun and out of the breeze. Even the locals are saying that it is unusually good weather for November.

Wow - sounds good. We came out for a week in October, i was lovely.A friend of mine came out for a week in May and it was hit and miss weather wise. Guess you never know!

The area deffinately needs water, these are some pictures I took last week at the baragem between Silves and Messines.....

How do you get to the banks of the lakes, We followd the signs from Silves toward messines and ended up by the dam.
Drove up a scary single track road , found a derelict cafe but few if any other signs of human activity.

Are there other roads that give you access to the lakes.

Funny you should say that EMM, that is exactly what happened to us! we stopped at a couple of places along the scary road and again at the dam. I think maybe if you go towards it from the Messines end there might be a way, I am going to ask my friend who lives that way, we went up there to have a nice stroll and a coffee but didn't manage that, just the photos.

Hi, Leslie Jean,
We went to messines and on the way back to Sylve.s' saw a small road sign on the right hand side off the road, to Baragem and took the chance.
It was scary, narrow and windey, but we eventually came to the Baragem. We were able to stop on a patch, just off road to take some photos and then the road wound down to the parking area over the Dam.
This is where the swimming and fishing takes place we were told.
Once across the bridge, we took a let turn and followed the road round,( Sign posted Lagoa)
Just on the right, before this road joined onto the main road was a great fish restruant, where we had lunch/dinner for a few hours and would definately go back.

Think we fell accross this a while back when we were driving around. Next time we will stop and enjoy.

We have come to the conclusion that it is the best way, to just sometimes take a chance, especially at lunch times.
Particulary when you see locals eating, i.e. local work mens vans parked, as they know the best places to go to. Enjoy.
