Not good, sounds more like the end of a night in Woking. I have never witnessed anything like this in Carvoeiro, I hope it was a one off.

Sorry you had to witness the problems in the square Sat/Sunday night but I'm glad that we're not the only ones that have remarked on the rowdy behaviour. We were out again 14th - 19th October and everything was quiet on all the nights except the Saturday 18th when groups of people where once again shouting and screaming from 1.30 till 4a.m.The GNR did not attend even though once again the problem was under their noses. Obviously if you are staying outside of the village you do not hear this but believe me it regularly happens and I do not think it is tourists. We are looking to move outside of the village but staying in the Carvoeiro area.

When we there in Aug, we saw a really big gang fighting it was about 2 we had just left the Round up and walked to the square it was one boy in the group and all his friends were trying to calm him down he was trying to smash car windows.
Just back from another week and saw no trouble at all.
We have had an apartment in the centre of the Village and never been bothered by any trouble, but have just moved out of the Village about 5 min walk and are now worried about teenage Daughters walking home after all the reports. They will have to get a Taxi....

I said Spanish or Portugeuse because those are the languages that I recognised being shouted at the top of their voices at 3 a.m in the morning Graham.Maybe there where British, German, or what ever nationality that you can think of but I did not hear them!

It's a shame Graham and bradybunch witnessed trouble on their trips. I was out on 25th September and had four days/nights visiting many of the bars in and around the square (it was the weekend of the big storms so tennis was cancelled!). We were leaving the town between 1.30am and 3.30am and didn't see any trouble at all. I did steer my friends away from the bar in question but to be fair we did cross back and forth several times and one of my friends started talking to a couple of the guys drinking outside and it seemed fairly OK. However, it is worrying that it all seems to kick off down there on a regular basis. I just can't see that it's visitors coming into town for a punch up so surely the bar owners know who these people are and are in a position to bar them.

Don't understand why the GNR fail to police this problem. It is right under their nose. The site of a GNR vehicle parked in the square with two armed officers standing in front of it you would think would help calm things down, otherwise frequent arrests might get the message across that this is unacceptable behaviour. Mind you we have a similar problem in our small market town in UK. The problem is similarly caused by young people leaving the pubs drunk and causing trouble on Friday and Saturday nights. We have a police station, but the police spend their time touring the countryside in their cars. Two officers on foot at the appropriate time?

Apologises Graham I did misread your post. I get so frustrated that people take this matter so lightly and just wish something could be done to stop this thing happening in such a lovely place as Carvoeiro. We had plans to retire there but now have to look for somewhere else outside the village just because of drunken yobs.

Didn't see any trouble while I was there for 10 days recently.
Perhaps that was because I was back in the villa by 9 p.m. having had enjoyed a good dinner in CVO!
Most of the bars looked empty when I walked past.

We are recently back from 10 days in Carvoeiro also.
I have to say that it was very quiet, even late on in the evening,
and you would be hard pushed to have formed a que, never mind any trouble.
