Yes it has changed a huge amount, we had friends out recently who were staying in his parents villa on Vale de Milho the last time they stayed there was 10 years ago, at first they couldn't even find the villa the estate has grown so much & they couldn't believe the amount of building in & around Carvoeiro.

Maybe a tad too much: just found this snipet on a review web site, which I can agree with to a certain extent:

Once a lovely fishing village and still with traces of the original buildings cut into the slopes above the cliffs. Carvoeiro has long lost its battle with the developers. Villa and apartment development has grown apace with demand and continues to drape the surrounding hillsides. Carvoeiro's small central square jams solid with cars and tounsts in the peak holiday months and a profusion of bars, restaurants and supermarkets line its streets. The resort's fine but small beach cannot cope as development continues. Fortunately there is an escape to nearby Algar Seco and Praia da Centianes.

Maybe the new pedestrianisation scheme will improve it during the peak season.

Well, after a 16 year gap I returned to CV and have to say I didn't think it had changed too much.
We had a lovely week there and had some superb meals out, never saw any bad behaviour but that may be because we were usually back to our villa about 11.30pm ish.
Crime seems a hot topic on here but once again we saw none of that and everyone was very friendly.
Would I return ? Oh yes of course :D

And so say all of us Chris!
So glad you had a good time. We start our journey to Carvoeiro tomorrow and expect to arrive late Saturday afternoon and are so looking forward to our visit.

I've just returned from the most wonderful holiday in Carvoeiro. I have never been to this part of the Algarve as we usually go to Vale do Lobo but I have to say I actually prefer Carvoeiro. It has such a lovely feel to the place. I will definatly be returning.

Carvoeiro is a terrible place and I'd recommend that you go somewhere else.

And then I will have it all to myself! 8)
