hi all great website, been a great help sp far.
I am going to portugal for the first time.
I am arriving in lisbon and staying there for few days then coming down to Carvoeiro for a week. I wanted to come by train and just wanted to know what the nearest train station was and how far as would be getting a taxi. I was then going to hire a car in Carvoeiro for the week.
Thanks
Daniel.

The station is at Tunes which is around 30 minutes away at a guess. If you were to hire a car with Algarvedriver.com through this site, it may be possible to get them to meet you at the station with a car. Worth asking.

Cant you get the connecting local train from Tunes to Portimao, and get a taxi from there? Probably cheaper I would have thought?

Might be cheaper but less convenient. Two trains and then a taxi versus one train and one taxi.

trains from tunes to estombar or silves are synchronized. it costs a fortune to go from tunes to carvoeiro by taxi.

i would choose silves in your case.
estombar is closer to carvoeiro but somehow placed in a desert...
