(going slightly off topic) Portuguese salad!! They haven’t got a clue. Tasteless water-soaked green leaf, green tomato and thinly sliced cooking onion.

At home (Lisbon) we have baby spinach leaf, rocket, watercress, two or more different lettuce leaves, mint, parsley, corriander; fresh green things that are easy to find in supermarkets here.

Ah, and the dressing: one favourite is simply 2 spoons olive oil, 1 spoon balsamic vinegar, pinch salt and pinch white sugar.

My wife and I both enjoy a good green salad with every meal. Can anyone recommend a restaurant in/near cvo that serves something serious?

the best tomato salad I have found was at Sulmar on the road to Benagil. Huge juicy tomatoes, carrots, atomic garlic and fresh onions.

Like Digger..I adore salads.and will often have one on the side...I make something similar to his one myself.I do try to grow a lot...mostly in large pots( to keep slugs at bay).and always have some herbs growing in my kitchen window box.
I love tomato salad too ..and that one you describe G sounds really tasty.. but as you say..theres always the 'after effects'
and Digger..I rather like the green leafy ones with large slices of onion and green peppers..
I love raw veg too...and often nibble carrots while making a casserole...

I am thinking of having rabbit tonight.

I am not sure as yet where to purchase the rabbit , the butchers or the pet shop.

Wandering around the market in Bayeaux, my then 6 year old daughter shouted "look mummy, here's where they sell the pets" just as the man broke the rabbit's back and stuffed it in a fresh meat bag - weeks it took us to get over it

Ahh..poor kid Mads( I wonder..is it only in France you will see that done?).....brought back a memory to me..not a nice one
I had twp aunties lived nextdoor to each other in the countryside and I would go there for summer hols.Used to love watching the rabbits in the fields at the back.
But one day I came back...and there hanging from a nail on the yard wall..was the twitching corpse of a lovely bunnie. It was only then..that I associated the animal with 'Rabbit stew'...like your daughter I was very young. But Ive never forgotten it and never ate rabbit since!
C M...youre too cruel..dont do either..have a nice: Salad..instead eh?
Our chief carpenter used to catch rabbits..around the workshops outside Algoz..he would take them home..put them in hutches on his roof terrace ..and...fatten them up for the pot

Normaly i,m not fussy but when this little white yoke wriggled out from under the salad i thought i,d mention it to the waiter.It was a bit harder then i thought and in fairness i was trying to be discreet(cmon,be fair its salad ,it happens) when this big fat lad pokes me in the back with his fork and says"eh lad,just tell im thoust didin order pub grub"that was the end of that.
