Easyjet winter flights - Stansted/Faro

Post by Farol »

I recently went to book several winter Easyjet flights between Stansted & Faro. When I checked in the afternoon flights were shown operating everyday throughout the winter. Later that evening when I went to actually book the timetable had been changed to show flights only operating Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. I don't mean that flights other days had been booked up I mean they had been removed from the timetable.

A couple of days later I queried this with the Easyjet sales counter at Stansted and was told they have romoved approx 55% of winter flights from their timetable - even though they had been selling those flights for a few weeks. The guy I spoke to said anyone that had booked flights that had now been removed from the timetable would receive an email offering an alternative.

If you made a booking before 23rd August for any winter flight Stansted-Faro I suggest you check it is still available.

I think the same applies to Luton.

Gatwick still seems to fly daily.

Anybody had any contact from Easyjet?

Anybody seen any publicity regarding this?

When does Winter begin ?

... that's not a facetious question, I'm just wondering when "winter" schedules begin at easyJet.

Or end. We have flights booked in Feb. from Bristol but it is half term so hopefully it will be OK.

i have just looked at the Easy Jet web site and they appear to be flying more than just week-ends - especially over the Christmas period. The flights for Boxing Day and return on New Years Day all appear to be there together with flights for the Wednesday 31st December as well.
Does this mean that they are still accepting bookings when they know that they will not be flying on these days?

Winter is October to March.

They seem to still show weekday (Mon, Tues, Wed & Friday) flights during the high demand periods of school holidays - it's the lower demand ones that have disappeared.

If you look at some of these it just shows "No Flights".

As I said earlier not all routes seem hit.

I'd like to hear from somebody that had booked a flight for a day that is now shown as "No Flights".

Apart from the impact on people that will find their flights have disappeared this will increase take up on the remaining flights and therefore increase prices. Cheap off-peak trips going out Mon/Tues back Thus/Fri will be a thing of the past.

If you go to myeasyjet.com and log in; all your booked flights will show. There is a section headed Disrupted Flights. You have the option of selecting new dates free of charge

Checking out the Gatwick flights, there seem to be between 1 and 3 flights a day, throughout the winter, and as cheap as £19:99 in each direction

have just looked at our flights for coming home on 6 Jan 09 which now shows NO FLIGHTS from stansted, and also for 7/8 now do we change return flight to the day before or come home on the 9th.
I booked these flight back in July when the winter timetable came out. I know that they will pay the difference its still annoying.

... and an extra couple of days in CVO.... there's a bright side to everything

Seriously though, this could be a problem if you are renting accommodation that may not have a vacancy to suit your changed flights.. I'm sure easyJet won't recompense you for that.

I think we are going to have to come back a day earlier than expected, I know we can fly into to Gatwick but Stansted for us is only a 20 minute journey. Sstill never mind we are out next friday for 10 days and then again in March

not coming back earlier after all - coming back on the following Sunday, when I checked what the cost would have been if we had booked from the 26 Dec to 11 Jan '09 it worked out £100 approx cheaper than we had originally booked but because they say our return flight is the same price as the one that they cancelled we would not get a refund on the difference -of £100.
So although they cancelled our return flight they are now £100 in pocket.

Yes this is all VERY disappointing and may also affect rentals - people may have to review their flexibility over changeover days.

As for us - Bristol no long fly every day and Cardiff, which was never very good (BMI BABY) is even worse and much more expensive. We've always come over for a long weekend in Feb - Thurs to Mon but now best we can do is Thurs to Sunday

I have also noticed that Easyjet have cancelled several flights in February and March out of Stansted, still if this keeps them out of trouble then I suppose we will have to put up with it for the time being. :( :( :(
