I was talking to son tonight about this topic and he said,
"How about when we met the late 'KEN WOOD' in Smilers?"
and I recalled, it was our first Christmas in Algarve.It may have been Christmas eve but not sure..we'd been working hard with Christmas orders and decided to pop in for nice drink.
it was quite early,the place nigh empty and Ken was at the bar.He said hello and we had nice conversation and drink with him.Friendly bloke.

Dont know whether this counts..but my late cousin was married to the niece of a primeminister.
He was 'Garfield Todd' ..primeminister of Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) in the mid 50s. A good man who would have put that sad country on the right road,if he hadn't been forced out by right wingers.

Ken Wood was the inventor of the famous Kenwood food mixer! (really it is true!)

He had a house here in the raod that goes up towards Algar Seco fromO Cantinho. He died some time ago but his widow Pat still owns the place.

Yeah..youre right Biffa...very nice folk the Woods..bumped into him/them a few times while we were there.
Think Geraldine (of Smilers) said his son lived in America.Dont know whether he inherited the business..or think maybe it was sold off?
When Jamie told mate at UNI that he'd met THE Ken Wood...he didnt believe him..said it was someone mucking around..and son got furious

Now youve 'backed it'..Ta

I thought Ken told us he owned a couple of places in CVO..but maybe Ive got that wrong!
