Portuguese broadband internet connection at home?

Does anybody know how to make such a connection & how much it might cost to install & run?

I need something like a BT hub so that we have a wireless netork at home. I have a landline supplied by Portugal Telecom.

Contact PT and ask for the line to be upgraded to ADSL, then you can either by a modem/router from them or any others on the market

Should be quite simple to arrange, and there is a choice of packages depending on the traffic limits required

If you just want a broadband connectionan and don't need a phone, why not go for the mobile broadband connection. Less aggro - something like 20 euros a month for 1Gb of download and will work all over Portugal. Easier than trying to get a phone line sorted out.

Just realised you said you had a phone, so ignore all the above!

Why ignore it, fmm? Your option will work everywhere, the home phone line will work . . . . at home!

It looks like the mobile broadband connection will be quicker to set up and more flexible. Another complication is that, as my phone in the villa is metered for guest use, this would need to be disconnected if i installed an ASDN line.

Don't know if this is of any help to anyone, hope it's a starting point anyway:

I have just enquired about putting in internet connection in our apartment in CVO with PT Portugal. We already have a land line with them:

2 MgBites is for the first year €14 per month rising to €19.82pm after the first year
6 MgBites for 1st year is €18.88 rising to €24.70pm after 1st year
16 MgBites for 1st year €24 rising to €35.28 after first year

€25 initial connection charge

Call (if local) freephone 16200, to apply, then you will be advised to call Tel: 707227276 to arrange the connection which takes 3 days

They were very helpful and speak very good ENglish. For more information email: mail16200@telecom.pt or telephone yourself on 00351 707 216200 from Outside Portugal, they will talk you through any offers they have and the best type of connection.

My mobile broadband is 1Gb download per month costing 22 euros a month. How long is 2Mb meant to last you? Or is that 2Mbps sped?
