A Casa Do Pao review
Do you like raw beefburgers served to your kids ? do you like sardines served watery and undercooked ? do you like steak served very rare when asked for medium ? if so then take a visit to this restaurant ! Its the one with the parrott. I think that maybe the chef was having a bad day, or the BBQ was not up to heat or something, but this was truly not a pleasant meal. Restaurant is on Rua da Barranco. It was our last meal of a 3 week holiday, so a bit disapointing really.

Yes Know what you mean.
Ate there a few years ago, then again one evening earlier this year when it was raining and we wanted something quite local.
It reminded us of why we don't go.
Food not all that good and slow service, but then to make matters worse they started cleaning up around the tables, whilst people were still eating.

We have eaten there twice. It was a joke. The first time we were so long waiting for our meal and then the bill we told them (after about 3 hours) that we were in a hurry to get to the airport. They FINALLY brought the bill. The second time was on New Years Day two years ago. There was about 25 of us altogether and to say that the service was absymal is an understatement. Even if we were starving we wouldn't eat there again.

Ive not eaten in this restaurant for a couple of years. I used to know the owners but not sure if they still run the place.
But I have to say, that the meals that I did have at 'A Casa do Pao' were good ones.
I particularly remember the Salmon steak I had on a 'Fado' night in 2004 (goodness me, was it that long ago?)..that was delicious,served with butter and lemon and with a Lagoan rose wine for drinks.
Ive also had other fish served at my table/filleted by waiter, which was good too...and I seem to recall enjoying their lemon meringue
Im sorry to hear of those of you not having good meals but as I say, Ive always enjoyed the meals I had there
BTW, the Fado was excellent. I went prepared to be a bit sorrowful but there were 4 different singers, with wonderful voices and 2 excellent instrumentalists..had a great evening.
it was the Fadista's birthday that night (lady singer), so I also got a big slice of her birthday cake
