Estrela do mar

Post by lemontree »

What a fantastic restaurant!!
Went there at least three times during our stay and had excellent food and wonderful service! Best dishes: beef stroganoff, pork with figs and the fish with mustard and cream sauce.
They were wonderful with the children and great surroundings!
A MUST FOR EVERYONE!

Really good breakfast and lovely lunches, remember your drinks etc and seem pleased to see you, well worth the trip down the hill, up the hill.

Does anyone know the opening days for Christmas and New Year. Thanks

I think it's next door to Bubble's bar on the road to ADM.

Delighted to know that others have found this delightful little restaurant.

Up restaurant hill until you are on the level, turn left and about 100 yards on the left by Bubbles Bar. In fact very adjacent to the Arias dos Moinhos residential area.

Good food, good wine list, excellent service and reasonably priced

Sorry but we had the worse meal here last night, thought we would try it as we had intended to go to one of our favourites only to find it closes on a Monday (we had forgotten that)

We had to wait for ages for our starters which were only salads and a soup! the place wasn't very busy so there really wasn't any excuse for this. When the mains arrived we were all disappointed, I had chicken piri -piri which was very dry and over cooked and it came with frozen crinkle chips so thin they were like sticks with a small salad, other meals were a pepper steak which was tiny!! and not that brilliant, Portuguese steak, now that is usually in a nice tomato/garlic/potato/bean style sauce, this was in brown gravy and tasteless, the wine was OK which to be honest is the only good thing about the whole meal, even so we still only had the one bottle between us.

Went home to get some toast and a nice drink.

Sorry but this place must have gone downhill in a big way..... never to try again for us.
