Being in the UK at the moment I only have access to the online version and can't find it on there. Perhaps I'm having a "blond" day :(

Sounds simple but apparently there maybe a problem area. My understanding is that it's the original electrician/gas technician (ie the one who installed the stuff) who's meant to take responsibility. If places were built some time ago - and have changed hands since - it may be impossible to find out who did it. Then I think you need to find someone else who's prepared to take on responsibility for someone else's installation - not sure who'll want to do that. Assume if anything goes wrong they could be in trouble.
It'll be interesting to see what happens and how these tradesmen feel about it ....

It is not as simple as "taking the responsibility for someone else's work". The electrician has to make sure tha the installation is up to today's standards when signing off on the paperwork. He should, in principle, do a complete revision of the electrical installtion to make sure that it is up to speed.

Just thinking back to a few years ago, when some of the pump houses were still equipped with the plywood-based fuseboxes, all warped and with rusty humidity stains - potencially lethal for the pool service staff. If an electrician were to sign off a house nowadays without having those replaced, he would be in the dog house if something happened.

And if the DOG HOUSE had to be inspected as well all the electricians in Portugal would have work for years to come. :D :D :D :D :!:

Weve come across this problem with the pool house. EDP wanted it changed before they increase the power coming into the house. A registered electrician can do it for you no problem.
And Im sure there are loads of properties with the same issues.
Youd fix it in your own home!

Hello Folks. Long time lurking and not posting from me. Well what a surprise. Seems like the authorities have seen some sense.

As for the electricians making sure things are up to today's standards. Not sure it would be difficult to find one who will sign off on someone elses work for the apprpriate fee.

edited for fear of persecution ;)

.. and, it seems, paying the right people

Has anyone else had a lawyer quote for making an application under the new legislation? Mine is suggesting c. €350 which I have to say is far more reasonable than some of the absurd figures I’ve seen quoted for making applications under the previous incomprehensible legislation! Dare I start to believe that we are beginning to see a more pragmatic approach to this long running saga?

Mexican Pete, it is tricky to estimate cost of this process as several documents may need collecting or updating and there is also the gas and electricity inspection to consider. Depends what the €350 includes really. If that covers the lot then it sounds quite cheap. I would have thought nearer €500 + VAT woud be likely.
