Hiya .
Here are a few places we visited which were really good.
They are in no particular order.
O'Dunas Mill in Villa Nova de Millafontes, superb setting and fish
CVO and area
Mistrals,
Casa de Bifa
A Gale
O Castello
Mona Lisa
Mamma Mias
Estradel de Mar
The Creperie at Abermener beach (whover you spell it)
Cheers (give them a days notice, choose from their list, and you will be pleasantly surprised, beautiful meal and service, Great coctails too)

Yep we found it ok. Got slightly lost so only had a light lunch to CVO. However we visited again for Sunday lunch which was fab. Prices have increased but still worth it. Ideal place for an excellent special dinner with live lobster and crabs that were still able to feed unlike O'Patios. (There they are old)The starters were a good choice and the puds heavenly.

We tried to avoid "Restaurant Hill" last week, and in doing so we ate very well...........
The one Restaurant Hill place we visited was out first night regular,
A-Gale'
For a consistantly good restaurant I dont think you can beat A-Gale'. We ate there twice and as well as being well looked after by Carla, enjoyed very good food and wine.
Medina.
On the out road and one that is getting better and better due to the commitment and hard work of its owner. In value for money terms, not as good as A-Gale'
Porches Velho
A lovely Portuguese restaurant in the back streets. Like the inside of a grain store or a Bodega. More up market market than most in CVO. Different and more traditional food. A favourite of the locals.
Chrissys - Lagoa.
What a find!
There are really good small restaurants around the Ardennes and Northern France, which if they pursued it would be well worth a Michellin Star. Chrissys is one such establishment, transplanted from Picardy to Lagoa!
Owned by a Belgian chef and his slightly fearsome wife, the restaurant next to the market in Lagoa is slightly faded, not at all pretentious, but the food, on a fixed price menu of 32 euros a head including house wine and water, is to die for.
Food should be art.....this is art. Both to look at and to taste.
Masterchef....eat your heart out!
Colina Village.
Another great quality restaurant ,which slightly more expensive, punches well above its weight for where it is. You just dont expect such quality in the middle of a development.
Chrissys probably just about shades it in terms of quality, but there isnt a huge difference, they both sit in that high bracket.
Where Colina Village scores highly is that you get superb food, in very good surroundings. When we were there last week we sat overlooking the pool, and there was really good live music as well.
Rumour has it that the owner will open a similar restaurant over in Sesmarias next year
The Grand Cafe - Silves
A family run traditional town restaurant near the old bridge in Silves. good cheap food, well cooked in an open kitchen overlooking a very traditional dark wood 18th century style restaurant.
Inexpensive, simple food, but good.
Eschoniniho
What can I say? Really good local rural workmans eatery beyond Monte CVO, heading towards Sesmarias. Like a-Gale', its a tradition for us. main course, brad, cheap Vinho Verde, all for about 7 euros a head. Opposite end of the scale to Colina Village or Chrissys, but in its own way , just as good.
