That would be "A Galeria". They have a nice monkfish cataplana.

I think it's Galeria. I had a very disappointing meal there once. Nothing was fresh, and everything was very greasy.
Haven't been back since but it was a few years ago so chances are it's different now.

What's the name of the restaurant opposite the Cvo Bar where you can dine outside amongst the trees, I've not been there in twenty years of visiting Cvo, looks a bit spooky

Rumur has it that the owner is a witch, a real one as in spells and black cats

... and that bitch stays with all the tip to pay the wages - so the waiters don´t get any tip at all. So remember: don´t leave tip in Galeria - it´s just for the old "bruxa"

Kappa, the nice people on this site don't want to know about the "real" carvoeiro. They don't want to know about owners not dividing tips between staff, not paying staff, not selling "fresh off the beach fish", watering down "fresh orange juice", not paying caixa, not giving people proper contracts etc, etc, etc.

We know it happens, so lets just keep it to ourselves or they'll stop comming or we'll all be fishing on the beach again.

The owner was a teacher at my primary school in Lagoa, and yes she was known as 'the witch'!

Hi Ditzy :)
Ive dined at A Galeria a few times in the past and I did like their chicken piri piri (you got the whole half of flattened chicken) very tasty.
But the last time I ate there my vegetable soup was luke warm, almost cold. I felt like complaining but then the cook appeared in the doorway, glaring at everyone..she was quite a burly woman and I bottled it!
Shes not the Bruxa is she?
Another thing I didn't like was the way the 2 young waitresses 'hovered' all the time, seeming ready to snatch the plate soon as we had finished!

I've had some nice meals at Casa da Pao on the out road..remember a huge salmon steak with lemon & butter sauce, the night they had 'Fado'!

Ellie the flat Chicken you ate, had possibly been run over in the road, you can always tell, but be careful, the grill marks should not look like tyre treads.

The other place Casa de Pao is only short of one letter, and it could be mine, with that minor adjustment, "Welcome to Casa de Pato" 8)
