Thinking of Driving to Seville for a night

Hi my girlfriend and I are travelling to CRV in July for 2 weeks. We will have rented a car. We are thinking driving to Seville for a night. Any tips ideas on where to stay what to do etc.

That sounds like a lovely idea, sorry can't help as I haven't been there yet but would love to go. The only thing I was going to say is that when you hire your car you will need to say you are going there as you will need extra insurance.

The best place to stay is NH Hotel Plaza De Armas which can be seen in distance when driving accross the bridge.
This is a superb hotel and highly recommended. It has a rooftop pool and sun-worshipping area
overlooking the city and is only 10 minutes walk to main shopping precinct in Seville. You will pay € 12 per day for parking which is still advisable and you can enter hotel from downstairs car park. Get your parking ticket stamped by your hotel for a 10% reduction.

In morning dont pay for expensive Breakfasts in hotel.
Go outside to shopping mall at front of Hotel and go to Columbus cafe
next to Mc Donalds where you can pick up coffee, juice & toasted bagel for a fiver.

You will pay € 120 for a nite for a double room but for same you will
have luxury, flat-screen TV's and an ultra modern room. Sevilla is
fairly congested traffic-wise so this hotel is best suited if you want to avoid the hassle and the loss of time in a BIG city.

Lastly you should not have to pay your car hire company to travel
to Spain. Just tell them you are goin there. petrol in Portugal is very
expensive so use the trip to Spain to buy a full tank ( € 1.50 per litre
in Portugal only € 1.35 in Spain)

every year from our base in Carvoeiro. Allow 2.5 hrs for journey.

We stayed at Hotel Alcantara ( http://www.hotelalcantara.net ) in the centre of the city - the Barrio area. It was about three minutes from the Cathedral and the Alcazar. Its only a two star - but the rooms were modern, clean and bright - ask for one overlooking the courtyard if possible. Breakfast was 5 euros extra, buffet style and you could eat it in the courtyard which we enjoyed. We have always looked at Tripadvisor when choosing hotels of this type and never been disappointed. This one is #3 out of 168 hotels in Seville and costs around 65/70 € for a double room at this time of year:

Seville is a lovely city - enjoy your stay

Just dont set out back during the rush hour. Seville gridlocks into one massive traffic jam after 5!
Also....if you go back in the evening you get the sun full in your face all the way home
