Reading matter on Living in Portugal
Just a quick observation that really suprised me!
I have been doing reserach on living in the Algarve. The internet is a 'must' and books can be equally informative.
Today, I was in Selfridges in London in the book section. I was reading about living in this region and something struck me as rather odd when looking up Inhertitance tax and Capital Gains.
What I was reading did not compute with what I already know know - that Inheritance tax has been effectively abolished and replaced with that 10% charge(compare that to the UK's 40%). Capital gains was recorded as having being levied if the proceeds are not invested within the following two years within Portugal! Of course. as we all know. that has changed to investing within the European Union.
The book I was reading was freshly printed but dated 2002!!!!!
You'd think a department store would at least stock up-to-date editions or not stock at all!
