draining the pool ?

We are just getting close to completing the purchase of a villa and have been told by our solicitor today that as the house is on a septic tank and there is no main drainage that when we need to empty the pool we will have to get a truck in to take the water away just wondered if anyone knows the cost of this and how often it would need doing and also who we would use ?

I guess it depends where your villa is situated. We have a septic tank and, therefore, no mains drainage. We re-tiled our pool last year and pumped the water into the garden. I would imagine that when the pool was built, empying it would have been taken into consideration?

We use a pool guy called Fernando Lourenco based in Lagoa. His office number is 00 351 282 353543. He speaks good English and will give you good advice on all things pool related.

Also make sure on your water bill that you are not being charged for Drainage as you have your own fossa.

Presumably a pool only needs draining when the sides near repairing? How often that needs doing depends on the type of pool you have. Our pool has been in for 4 years now and touch wood/plastic etc ........ we haven't had to empty it at all during that time and am hoping it won't have to happen for many more years.

Thankyou everyone for your replys that's a big help never had a pool to look after before so haven't got a clue. Hopefully it will be very rare it will need to be emptied
