don't forget that those mods know where we all are at any one time - remember the whole eco/spider thing (I am still shocked by that revelation- it was better than any soap opera EVER!!!) Gambo KNEW all along.

anyway back on topic - I can read portuguese and it doesn't seem to be a hoax and it must have been really really scary for that girl. every parents nightmare etc etc. Shouldn't be too difficult to identify - he didn't seem very 'anonymous' massive car, pony tail, rings etc someone must know him.

As does your posting - these stories are more often than not hoaxes - read some previous subjects on this forum. The victim is normally a young girl and the perp is normally hairy, tattooed and drives a flash car in virtually all urban legends.

As far the comment above, presumably referring to my lack of knowledge of Portuguese, that is a fact so I cannot comment on the news report - perhaps you can give an exact translation for all us dummies, and let us know whether the report was in a national or local paper and if there are witnesses other than the victim?

Fill in your profile so we can all see who and where you are rather than hiding behind an anonymous handle.

ps - I notice at the bottom of the newpaper report it says that there have been rumours of other attempts, but there has only been one instance reported to the GNR.

The point is, HR, that if you say something as finite as "it's a hoax!" it will lead people to assume, that you know it is a hoax, in which case it would be constructive and useful if you explained how/why you know this is a hoax or provided some details to discredit the report.

As your subsequent post clarifies, that you don't actually know wether it is a hoax or not. You merely assumed from past experience that it is false and it becomes apparent that you have been talking out of your arse and have no clue on the subject at hand.

Given the serious nature of the topic, and seeing that you are unable to contest the truthfulness, maybe now would be a good time to shut up about it.

... and that's told me, so apologies to all.

Perhaps someone will post here if the offender is caught.

I just looked at the report but it did not say where in Portugal, a bit useless if it did not state where abouts, makes one think this is a bit of a fly in the ointment

This is no fly in the ointment or indeed a hoax, I know the family and the area in fact my villa is less then 20 metres from those bins. Actually it was a bit of a shock to see my place on tv just now.

Gerry, what I meant was the point that it did not state where in Portugal this eventful situation was taken, hence the newspaper review was meaningless to a point. (Especially whilst feelings are running high)One needs to know exactly where this took place, i.e CVO as someone else has mentioned. Sorry to hear it was adjacent to your abode wherever that is.

The first post on this topic quotes the email the poster received which says this happened in Porches.

I stand corrected.
I only opened the newspaper report to listen to what it had to say ,presuming it would have a few pertinent facts, wrong again

I dont care if a 100 hoaxes are reported , I would treat all the same , if somebody has tried to take a child then everyone should inform all their friends and family in the area. i also believe the schools should know , which is why i am going to let my childs school know tommorow. If it is a hoax who cares , I will suffer the embaressment , I would rather that than risk one child lost.
With regards to vigilantes dont do it , if you see the alleged vehicle , take details , description , time , place , reg number and contact police. After the horror of losing little Maddie do you honestly think the police are not going to react ? Dont take the law into your own hands , people have been wrong before with disastrous consequences , if you are concerned then keep the person in sight , but please dont risk yourselves , if you actually see the person commit or in the act of committing an offense with a child then do what you think best !!!! ( and if that is the case I would be the first one in there ).
Lets keep all our children safe and stop arguing over hoax or not , and picking holes in each other , lets use our intelligence to make our children aware of their safety ( with out scaring them ) , and make those scum out there aware that we are watching.

White rabbit 2, I can assure you that your doing the right thing, I,ve known Rolf for years and can attest to the 100% honesty of this. I,ve been on this site for years and I reckon a lot of the posters would know me fairly well by now.
The area we are talking about is roughly 2 miles the other side of Porches and would be just off the main road ,Alcantrilla.
