New Kid on the block

Post by palm »

Hello everyone in the forum. :D I think this is a wonderful idea. I am new to the forum and I hope to stay in contact with you all until we (my husband and my 11 yr old) drive down via boat from Cork to Roscoff then down through France to Spain and then up to Portugal. We shall be staying in Carvoeiro for three weeks and then do the same back. :( We are currently buying an apartment in Salicos and we hope to be proud owners any time in the next few weeks. When we are over in June we hope to meet new friends and especially those with children aged around my daughter's age ie 11 and those who go to the International School of the Algave, Porches. This would be an ideal time for her to get to know some other children in the area as she is very quiet and shy as she was bullied at her primary school and it has knocked her confidence. I also think this would be an ideal time in her life to embrace a new Country as well as learing the language and meet other children with different nationalities and cultures so I am trying my best to organise a little friend for her to make the transaction easier for her. I would really appreciate it if anyone out there has children at the International school or is hoping to send them in September so they could meet. Also can anyone tell me how to become a resident when your child goes to school there?

 Hello Palm, we have a house out near Lagoa/Benagil but won't be living there until about 2011, it is heaven tho' to use as a bolt hole from this mad world.

Good luck with your move and new life.

Hi lesley jean, thanks for your kind words. I bet you can't wait until 2011 to get out of the rat race etc. Portugal has such a slower pace of life and we will be looking forward to that and the glorious sunshine (most of the time) except chistmas (with the winds and rain etc.)
