That is a good point but maybe then there should be some type of disclaimer here, if you accept a lift for free with one of the forum members kind enough to give you a lift in the first place then you do so at your own risk. This would be the same if you were hitch-hiking etc.

I'm sure I can't be the only one wanting to know if Bruce got a result from DaveK - it would be nice to know if the idea was workable?!

If the concept does prove popular maybe the posts need organising somehow (and I've no idea how to do that) so that people could, for example look at a particular month rather than having to scroll through several pages to find the dates useful to them? I'm sure one of the IT experts can work out how to do that?

I think this is a good result. Our flight from EMA arrives officially 35 mins. after the Gatwick Monarch flight but is usually 10 - 15 minutes early. With no luggage to collect we should all be on our way well before 9.30, so Bruce's son should not have too long to wait.

Looks good laserblazer - maybe it needs to be a separate subject under the main index in order to be able to have 'topics'/months under it for people to post items against.

(PS - how come it took you 3 days to reply - don't tell me you've been sunning yourself in Portugal?!)

I reckon this is a great idea but the disclaimer isn,t worth the paper its written, under law you cannot sign away your rights.

I can't see that it is any different to offering to give someone a lift home from the pub. As long as it is not for personal gain. I don't know about Portuguese law but in the UK you can accept a contribution towards the fuel costs.

I read what is being said about PS liability, and take it on board, but for me, and maybe others, it is a great way of helping one another, and meeting other forum members.

As a result of Daves generous offer, we may have made an other friend in the community, and that, in my opinion, is what this forum is all about

Besides being environmentally friendly, if so inclined, anyone who benfits from these exchanges could make a donation via Roy or Gambrinus to the website charity Pirlampos Children's home - 2 incentives to get people posting?!

Shamelessly posting to get this back up the list again but also to regale how the best laid plans go to pot .........
Having failed to find anyone to give hubby a lift to cvo that Sunday I booked him a hire car for the day with the intention that the girlfriends who were going home the next morning could take it back - should have only cost around 20euros with our normal company or £30 at the most from one of the multinationals. But I forgot to give hubby the reference number that I'd booked the cars under and I had all the paperwork with me (I was out with girlfriends celebrating one of their birthdays!) - the lad at the airport unusually hadn't got the booking down (never had that problem before) and when Jim tried to phone me on the Portuguese mobile this wasn't working, so the car company wouldn't give him a car. Any of the multinationals would have given him a car but he didn't have the driving licence details of whoever was going to drive the car back the next morning unless he drove himself - rather defeating the purpose of having the extra car. So, that cost us 2 lots of 60euros for the transfers both ways.

As I said, the best laid plans ............

Anyway, let's see if anyone else can get a match up - don't forget to look on laserblaser's topic 'Holiday Plans' as well.

Alison, that is a shame as there so many flights into Faro each Sunday morning and so many people must be collecting cars.

As you know we gave a lift to Bruce's son in April and eveything worked fine. As Bruce says it is a great chance to meet new people with similar interests.

We go out next on 18 June from EMA arriving 0900 approx and leave on 22 June about 1500. If anyone wants a lift please PM.
