The term "Long Suit" can have Two (2) meanings:

a term used in many games of cards to indicate your strength in a particular suit in cards...

However, it could refer to a myopic (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary) Tailor.

Webester's Dictionaey defines "Long Suit as: (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary)...

So I'll go with "guest number 2"s definition ( thttp://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary) on this one.

Of course, if these little Blue Doo-Hickies ( http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?va=doohickies) dont work, all bets (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary) are off.

Damned hard to find a good Blue Doo-Hickie these days...(in fact, only two of them showed up for work on this post)...

And I'm not sure if THEY work.

Just checking you got it . . . the topic is a humourous aside, put on here last week to alliviate bad feeling and give us all something to titter about . . . really do hope that I have simply misread your post and that you were being ironic - like Digger and Gerry are often saying, irony does not appear to be something that translates well in the written word, so undoubtedly you are havinga little jokey too, of course you are, silly me

Thanks to Guest2 and Cowboy for explaining'long suits' --think I understand now!
Im not known for being always the best of spellers--but--I keep noticing the word 'definately' spelt this way on here!
Looked it up to be sure in Oxford Dic. and for once Ive been spelling it correctly ! It is 'Definitely' --an i not an a!

Now, that I've got some time, G2, I'll explain as best I can.

The myopic tailor can't get his measurements right, so the suit is too long...(ie)...
