Water services in Lagoa

Post by DaveK »

Our present appartment is on Gramacho so we have not been involved with direct payment for utilities as these are all wrapped up in the service charges. However, we have recently completed on a property (3 bed, 3 bath, garden but no pool) near the centre of Carvoeiro. We have direct debit in place for electricity but are told that the water services in Lagoa will not accept direct debit forms of banks not represented by branches located in Lagoa. Our bank is BBVA in Portimao with no branch in Lagoa.
Has anyone else come accross this?

It would also be useful to have some idea of water costs. The property needs some work and there is no intention to let it for at least a year. We will occupy for only a few weeks.

Any observations would be appreciated.

True, most Câmaras will only accept direct debits from banks located in their area. I think Lagoa ARE like that. Water costs depend on how much you use as there is a sliding scale. If you stay within the lower tier it is quite cheap at €0,41 per cubic metre up to 10 c3 then next tier is €0,69 up to 20 c3 then €0,96 etc rising up to €2,37 at the upmost level. You pay 2 months at a time

Thanks for that biffa. Confirms what we were told. Information on scales of water charges appreciated and will give us some idea of what to expect.
