Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance
I need help on this one.
We have had annual travel insurance with the same company for 6 years without problems. I am 66 years young now.
The problem is that the the insurance company says that it cannot insure me on renwal as I will be 67 years young. It can however insure me on their Senior Citizens cover.
I didnt realise that you were over the hill when you reached 67.
Their seniors policy will only cover you for 21 days with no extention and cost half as much again as previous.
The problem is that we have already booked to stay at RB for 6 weeks at the start of June. How do I get around this and what do other long stayers do?
I have looked on the internet and whilst there are plenty of travel insurers I cant find one to cover over 31 days.
How would the insurance company know if I was there for 21 days or 61 days?
Any Ideas would be appreciated.

How will they know if you're away for 21 or 61 days?
They won't..........unless you need to make a claim, in which case they will ask to see all documentation relating to your original booking, and that will give them the information. They will then decline the claim.
I am expecting trouble from my insurance company shortly.
I am currently recovering from heart surgery. In the last two months I have had four ECG checks, three chest x-rays, two extensive lung function tests, umpteen blood tests and an angiogram. I now know that following the surgery I am as healthy as any other 63 year old. However, that won't stop them from significantly increasing my premium, because they will consider me an increased risk. In reality, the opposite is true.....I know I'm no longer a significant risk at all, and I am subject to continuing medical screening anyway.
There is no justice is there?

Michael had a similar problem when he renewed our annual insurance last week. Because he will be 60 for one whole month before the policy needs renewing next year our usual insurance company increased the premium by more than £30!
He shopped around on t'internet and found a company who will insure you up to 70 years old without a problem, and at a significantly lower premium. From what I can see we haven't lost any cover, so it might be worth you having a look there.
We are not at home at the moment, but when Michael logs on tomorrow I'll get him to post the name of the company and, if he still has it, the URL.
