Estrela do Mar now open!!

Post by Mariposa »

Previously from the bistro at Algar Seco, now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, excellent choice, wonderful surroundings, we wish them all the very best!

Located Rua dos Moinhos, past Chimneys (Bedrock) on left hand side opposite Casa Mariposa (B&B)

Estrela do Mar

Post by Canada »

Had dinner there 2 nights ago. It is a lovely setting and it is nice to see Joao again. Their menu is much like Algar Seco Bistro Bar but quite a bit larger. They are now doing chicken piri-piri again (which is really good!)
I like the surroundings and decor better than before - but the view isn't there, of course. Would highly recommend it!

Is this at the bottom of the steps at Algar Seco? Always fancied trying that place...but whenever we have gone it's been shut in the evenings

The place at the bottom of the steps is called A Boneca and it closes in the evening if the weather is bad because the seating is predominantly outside. Always busy on a sunny day as people come down to look at the viewing window through the rock. All this said Boneca is a different place to the algar seco place at the top that is being talked about here.

We had a really nice lunch and a very good breakfast. It is worth the walk and the staff really seem pleased to see the old customers from Alga Seco

Following our visit (see Carol's newsletter), Joao has offered to give anyone wearing the 'Orange' Forum badge a 10% discount off his already reasonable prices.
