Has anyone had any dealings with this telephone company and if so what is their experience of using them?

We have signed up to use them as they offer calls back to the UK for 4 cents a minute as opposed to 24 cents a minute from PT.

However they don't seem to me to be that professional and they now want bank details to set up a direct debit, but I am a bit nervous about doing this.

Therefore any of your opinions would be gratefully received

Sorry don't know about that company, but have you considered Skype ?

Since you already have broadband, you can use Skype to call UK landlines for as little as 2c per minute.

Or if your other party also has Skype and broadband, calls from computer to computer are FREE.

Hi Weve been informed about CLICK??? They provide pretty much the same as sky, tv, surf and speak? Has anyone heard of this or has anyone got any cost effective sky type deals that they have had experience of? I have just signed up to skype here in the uk and am hoping that i will be able to continue to use it in Portugal, especially for my business. Thanks

I think its called Clix. They offer a similar service as Cabo Visao or TV Cabo or Sapo. Just remember that the TV packages are including Portuguese cable TV and NOT sky.
Portuguese cable only has 4 or 5 english language channels then a mixture of french, german, brazilian, italian and of course portuguese channels.
Its very useful to help you with learning portuguese but if you want to watch Coronation Street then you need sky!!
Having said that the internet and phone packages can be taken out without tv with all these companies along with all the mobile networks.

Whatever the service you purchase I can only advise one thing:

NEVER set up direct debit!

Payment control is your only defence against debit "errors" which, when they occour, can take months to resolve and are just unnecessary hassle.

The portuguese banking systems are superbly kitted out to handle payments via the Multibanco cashpoints. Plus, if you adhere to online banking, most if not all banks will have the same payment portal online as the cashpoints, allowing you to pay invoices from any PC with an Internet connection.

Post office or cheque payments are normally also available for servce invoices.

Well I haven't given them my bank details as they still have not managed to contact me to obtain them But then again based on Gambrinus's advice I won't be either The calls are definitely cheaper. You have to dial a prefix before each phone call you make and this then somehow charges the call to Lintel and not PT. So I have been using the service and they have sent me one email detailing the calls I have made, but as for payment - who knows

Dont worry too much about DDs you have same rights as with credit cards ie you can ask banks for money back. you will find the calls are cheaper because its paperless and pre pay .
