Does anyone know the situation with Plus, has it been taken over yet or is it still the same at the moment???

I heard of someone local , that all plus stores are to change hands with pingo doce , which are good but will be shame to lose plus ,as cheap and cheerful , also modelo in lagoa will shut soon too ,but do not know who is taking it on yet as they have to decide between it and portimao branch which one to close but will close lagoa branch as portimao branch much bigger .

I heard yesterday that Modelo in Lagoa is going to be MaxMat. Apparently MaxMat belongs to the same group as Modelo/Continente.

A friend of mine who works at Modelo has told me that they were told they would definatly be staying open for the next 6 months but as they have now taken over carrefour in Portimao (as a continente) they want to see which is the most profitable and then one will close! Fingers crossed Modelo stays open.

I agree! Modelo is my favorite store around here and to drive to Portimão or even LeClerc would be a bummer and imho, Intermarche is the Devil´s store.

Totally agree with that sentiment.
There was talk some time ago about the area opposite the old fire station being earmarked for a supermarket. Did anything come of that?
