Can you believe this . . . . . .?
I am not sure that anyone is suggesting that this was not their experience and to a certain extent that is the point - people in tourism in Portugal and The Algarve in particular, need to know that these things are being experienced and broadcast to huge numbers of their target client group.
I think what made it a particular shame was that there was no balance to this, no rush of people talking about all that is great on the Algarve and I am as guilty of not doing that as others. To be honest I did not pick the exchange up very quickly as it was under the topic heading "English Butchers" which is not something I personally am immediately drawn to and by the time I did look, everything above was there and quite frankly I simply panicked and posted it on here for feedback.

Wouldn't we all like Carvoeiro and Portugal to be the best kept secret really?
I certainly wouldn't be concerned about what has been put on the website because enough people with any form of intelligence know that the Algarve has more positives than negatives and is a second home to a lot of people ie. Cliff Richard
who I believe is having great success with his vineyards and more are to follow - more vineyards and less golf courses I say!!!!!

Off course I would love to keep it all a big fat juicy secret but somehow I do not think that is in the best interests of the businesses there who rely on the foreign tourist, it would certainly not be in the best interests of those building another 40 (?????) golf courses and all the accommodation that goes with it.Wouldn't we all like Carvoeiro and Portugal to be the best kept secret really?

Excellent article in the travel supplement of 'The Times' (10/01/04) regarding the Algarve as part of the 'run up' to Euro 2004 and whilst CVO isn't mentioned it mentions ".......the wonderful climate and beautiful coastline of long beaches washed by the Atlantic tide and backed by ochre cliffs........". Whilst only a few matches are being played at Loule' many of the teams (including Germany & Holland) & the world media will be based at Algarve hotels - apparently England are making do with a 4* near Lisbon!
No doubt the Algarve will benefit from the publicity it receives during the tournament.
