Several places advertised New Years Eve dinner/party.

Anyone go, what was it like?

Carvoeiro was VERY quiet this year which suggests people went elsewhere for the 31st.

Where were you??? I have never seen the beach so busy!

We ate in MaJa's, very nice indeed, and then went to Charlie's Bar afterwards to bring in the New Year.... Where Mark and Jan also turned up..

(it was, as usual, packed to the rafters!)

Everywhere we passed looked packed, though that might be because Roundup was closed, which was a huge pity as I quite enjoy the atmosphere in there after midnight when everyone is still in party mode!

Up at the church, we saw fireworks from Carvoeiro to Sagres!!

Obviously nobody went to ANY of the places open in Carvoeiro on New Years Eve, either that or they had such a crap night they don't want to share it with us

Oh and yes the square WAS packed, until the fireworks stopped then they all went home

Hi bifa's 1st darling,
I went to several places ( bars ) during the day and in the evening popped into Bojangles which was pretty busy. Then I moved on to Anteak Bar which was buay , then Medina for a quick drink which had quite a lot of people in who had been in for dinner and to see Mandy singing . Apparently she was very good. Then I helped a damsel in distress find her lost friend at Monte Carvoeiro, was dragged back down to Anteak by somebody with Champagne and collapsed at about 3.30.

Everywhere that I went or looked into was pretty busy. Which part of town were you in?

I celebrated in Medina's on New Years Eve and had a very nice meal. One of the reasons we chose Medina's was because they had entertainment. I have to disagree with Craig about the singing - we were all cringing it was so bad. (Mandy should pick a new career) We left before midnight and went down to the Irish Times Bar where there was a bit of fun.

We were there as well and we had a very nice Meal, Mandy did say in all fairness that she had been unwell and had a really bad throat.
Have heard her sing before and she was very good, so maybe of night.....

Just to reply to Caron , I am not a professional singer as most people know I actually sing for fun , and yes I was ill with throat prblems and flu over christmas , I also flew back especially at 4 am New yeards eve so that I didnt let Phil the owner down. It was a shame that you didnt enjoy yourself , you should have spoken to Phil on the night , but the rest of the clients enjoyed themselves and stayed to the early hours. I would just like to point out that there are actually two singing Mandys in the village and I would like to apologise on your behalf to the profesional singer , Blonde , petit , Mandy , who sings in Mungoes and Boa vida , just in case she has had any bad press due to your message on this site. As I announced on new years eve , My nickname is Mad Mandy ( thanks MOi !! ) , and I was running a singalong . Once again I am sorry you didnt enjoy yourself , next time something like this happens please let people know at the time so that it can be put right or maybe you could have got up and sung yourself !
