Is the water from the taps in CVO OK to use for tea coffee etc ( ie does it have a strong chemical taint ).

Realise that we should use bottled for drinking.

i dont use the water for boiled drinks only because it has such a terrible effesct on yr kettle and calcs it up very quickly, the same is true if you use it in an iron.
its not just those not from portugal who dont use the water for coffee etc, many portuguese i know also use bottled water to, i tend to do as the portuguese in these sort of situations and steer clear of mains water unless you treat it first.

We use tap water for boiling for coffees and cooking. Also for cleaning teeth. We have never had a problem.

What I have been told is that the tap water is pure enough but is high in minerals.

I agree the kettle firs up a lot but so does it in different parts of UK.

However if you are worried then the 5 ltr bottles are so cheap that you might as well buy them.

We've been drinking untreated mains water for the better part of thirty years without any ill effects. Firing is a problem but regular cleaning of kettle and coffee maker is easy. Surely the minerals are generally good for you? Why spend on bottled (mineral) water when you could use the money for wine?

I think you're right MP,about the minerals being good for you.I always use the tap water for tea, coffee and cooking veg in the apart. in CVO and never had any problems.
I think Im used to it, as the water here in the Wolds is 'hard' and Im sure Ive read in a medical report that it does you know harm and I think 'soft' water is not so good for you?
But I always have bottled water to drink on its own.

going by the weather forecast you will all be drinking a lot more water over the next few days if they have the forecast right. I cannot see my beloved village because both webcams are down. whats the weather like there at the moment. I sent my wife and kids down today and I will be joining them on Thursday
