temperature guage on site

Can somebody presently living in the village tell me what is the average temperature these days. When I look each day it is generally 17degrees with a max of 19 on some occassions. Yet I see on the webcam people going around either topless or with string vests. Are these people ridiculously hardy or is it warmer than 17 degrees. I am travelling down for Christmas with the family and I am getting confusing signals. I have been in Carvoeiro in early January but never December. Is it beach weather when the sky is cloudless ? 17 degrees would certainly indicate that it is not

Last New year from mid morning to mid afternoon it was definetly shorts weather. ( chilly out of the sun though ).

Robbie,
Gary and I arrived back last Sunday, had good average temp of 19 deg c, hitting between 22 and 23 deg C by 2pm on our balcony. Chillie mornings and evenings though, we were down the beach most days by mid-day.

Definitely not shorts weather for me, I'm well into my jeans and jumpers season now. It is bright and sunny during the day, but the temperature drops from around 4 pm as the sun goes down

its been nice sunny day here but chilly brrrr..makes one want to hibernate like all the mrs Tiggywinkles..and just wake up for a nibble & drink now & then

Yes Ellie, the logburner is well stocked almost 24 hours a day, from now for the next couple of months!!

There is a major difference between the reported shade temperature and how you feel sitting in the sun. We only returned to a very cold UK at the weekend, but even during the last week in CVO we could wear shorts in the sun around lunchtime. Problem is, as Karen says, by 4 o'clock you need to be wearing warm clothes. But Carvoeiro cold is nothing like what we have experienced in Fairford these last few days. Brrr!

Somehow, central heating rads and an electric effect coal fire are not quite the same and I feel quite jealous

It was very strange scene this morning,when I woke and looked out of the window..there'd been a deep overnight frost and the fruit on the Crab apple was glistening gold..and believe it or not there were tight little red rosebuds on bush outside kitchen door and also a few flowers left on the sweet pea 'wigwam' Id made ( as you can tell, Ive not tidied the garden yet!

The frost has lasted all day with ice patches on the lawn.Wonder if there'll be snow for Christmas?
But I was cheered by the sight of robin redbreast and a couple of little wrens on the Kimarnock willow.

One of the things Sharen and I look forward to is sitting in front of the log fire in the evenings. It's a Christmas treat and makes a pleasant change from sitting in front of our storage radiators.

There was a frost last night here too, one of the cars was covered in it this morning. At 8.30 this morning the temp guage in my car was reading 3 degrees (it even had a little snowflake next to it) although that went up fairly quickly as the sun got up to around 17 throughout the rest of the day.
And we don't have central heating

But the log burner is getting good use at the moment too.

I can confirm that I will be in shorts, even the chance to put shorts on is too good to miss out on, also I will be having a three line whip to ensure the rest of my family comply with the summer dress code.
