Ele and Ela

Post by jimmyp »

Hi have just returned from CVo after three heavenly weeks - Having read the posts about Ele & Ela gave it a spin and was thoroughly impressed. Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and very very good food. Just a pity we forgot to try it until the last three days - only had chance to eat there twice!!

My wife raved over the mushrooms to start, the rack of lamb was very very good and if you are lucky enough to be there when the oriental soup (with peanut butter base) is the soup of the day you must try it - well unless u have a nut allergy of course!

Pleased that it is maintaining it's quality. It remains our favourite restaurant in Carvoeiro. Trouble is I've eaten my way through most of the menu. Maybe there will be a few different specials when we are over in October.

Taxwoman and I arrive in CVO next week :D We are definitely going to try this restaurant - is it open for lunch or is it dinner only ? what is the best menu choice (the rack of lamb seems popular but I have to admit of never thinking that Portugese lamb would be any good - perhaps they import it) and how long in advance do you need to book for late September ?

thanks joanne - yes I had read all the previous threads on Elle and Ela's. I see you were there again recently and will be going back soon - what makes this restaurant special for you ?

PS - I don't see any previous thread confirming whether the restaurant is ever open for lunch :?

We buy and cook Portguese lamb. It is seasonal, since it is not usually imported, but has excellent flavour. Racks seem to be rare, but it is probably because the restaurant trade buy up most of them. In fact most of the meat we buy in Portugal is excellent quality, and keenly priced.

Pleased the quality is still holding up. Hope Claudio, the South African waiter is still there, since my wife is in love with him. Think we would still have to eat there even if food was not too good. :)
