It's cynics like you Tricky that believe fresh chips means "just de-frosted"!
Fresh veg means straight out of the tin.

My daughter and I fancied a ' snack' one evening, and as lovely as it is to eat a three course meal most evening the bikini was getting tighter

We had a salad in mind but i couldn't resist the sausage and mash which was really nice, it was a busy night and jan was run off her feet. I think they have got a success on their hands.

Would like to say I had a very nice fish & chip,peas meal here one evening and the lady there was lovely.

I know it might seem early but we are British and preparations for Christmas normally start around now

We are going to be running our Christmas Party menu throughout December in addition to our normal menu, which could be ideal for your pre Christmas get together or for those of you that won't be here on Christmas Day!

We will be open for Christmas Day lunch serving between 12 and 3 but book early to avoid disappointment - reservations have already been made!!

Bookings are required for both the Christmas Party menu and Christmas Day

Julia and I visited Ma-Jas last week. It really is home from home for ex-pat Brits craving "English food".

The food, and I mean this in the nicest way, was like what you would get in a really homely south coast boarding house. Comforting and unashamedly British.
Carrying on my boarding house metaphor, Jan is a delight. Not so much a resturanteur, more the really welcoming lovely landlady.
Her front of house style is perfect for the venue.

These 2 really do deserve to succeed with their venture.

The thing I like about the place is you can just go in there and "chill" over a beer or meal.

Have to say I ate in Ma Jas in the summer and was dissapointed with the place generally, nothing was horrible and the service wasn´t poor it was just very mediocre.
I take it all back now though!!
I had a xmas meal there the other day and it was beautiful, I have never had such a good traditional turkey meal outside of the UK and it bettered a few I have had in the UK too!! (Excluding family of course)

Well done Mark and Jan for really pulling out the stops and I would urge anyone looking for somewhere to eat at xmas to go there, it really was that good.

a christmas meal in November! sounds fun

Had a meal here in july and I thought it was great!
Nothing totally mind blowing, but sometimes its nice to have something a bit more "normal" like you have at home.

Oh how I would love to be able to be there for Xmas!

Introduced the mother-in-law to Ma-Ja's last week, she really enjoyed the home-made lasagne and salad as we didn't feel like anything too heavy after spending a week in CVO the ol'waste tends to expand. It was great, hope they have a great Christmas, sounds as though they are fully booked. Well done

I've been!!!

Isn't it lovely inside? Love what you've done to the walls and the colours are brill. It's one of those places I could sit in all day, I liked the music, just loud enough to hear the words but not so loud you had to shout. I can't coment on the food as I only had coffee, which was nice and hot. The menu was interesting, I might be in one day for something to eat because it's so completly different to what we eat at home, very foreign!

Just one thing folks, you should have ALL your menus/info/timetables,etc in Portugues FIRST and whatever other language after, it's the law and you WILL be fined if anyone comes round checking.
